Complete Coating System
Complete Coating System
If you are using the Armor Epoxy Flake System, here is how to apply the complete coating system:
- Primer Coat: Apply the ARMOR MB100 Primer-coat. Allow 8-24 hours to cure before applying the epoxy base color coat.
- Color Base Coat: Apply ARMOR EPOXY100 color epoxy basecoat to floor.
- Broadcast Vinyl Flakes: Immediately after applying the EPOXY100, wearing spike shoes, broadcast vinyl flakes at a rate of 14lbs – 18lbs per 100ft² or until the epoxy completely covered (until the base color coat is no longer visible). Allow the floor to cure for 10-14 hours.
- Test Flakes: Test the floor to verify the chips are not moving and the epoxy is set up enough to prepare the floor for the urethane topcoat. Simply press your thumb down on the chips and slowly twist your thumb to verify the epoxy below and the chips are not moving.
- Scrape and Clean Floor: Using a flat blade scraper, at a low angle, glide the scraper across the surface removing all vertically bonded flakes and all other residual unbonded vinyl flakes. After scraping the floor sweep and vacuum the floor to ensure only bonded vinyl flakes remain before applying the urethane topcoat.
- Top Clear Coat: Apply a urethane topcoat (ARMOR SCU85, UTX60 Gloss) by pouring the material in ribbons and spread with a flexible magic squeegee, followed by back-rolling with a 3/8” nap roller. Do not allow the urethane topcoat to puddle and do not over-roll the surface as it is essential to ensure a uniform film formation over the surface. Visual indicators should be: light, uniform liquid appearance on the surface with no puddling Note: Make sure the roller is fully saturated before rolling.
