It is best to refer to the Technical Data Sheet of the epoxy system you are using for complete instructions. Prior to installation, ensure the coating system you are using is designed for use with vinyl flakes. Below are general instructions to help give you an idea of what’s involved in a flake application:

• Concrete Prep: It is important to properly prepare the concrete in accordance with the primer coat application instructions.
• Primer Coat: Apply your primer coat in accordance with the primer coat application instructions. Depending on which coating system you use, your primer coat may be the same as your colored base coat.
• Color Base Coat: Apply your colored epoxy base coat in accordance with the colored base coat application instructions.
• Broadcast Vinyl Flakes: Immediately after applying your colored base coat, wearing spike shoes, broadcast vinyl flakes. How the flakes are applied will depend on applicator preference and desired coverage. Allow the floor to cure (this will be the suggested recoat window of
  the colored epoxy base coat you are using).
• Test Flakes: Test the floor to verify the chips are not moving and the epoxy is set up enough to prepare the floor for the topcoat. Simply press your thumb down on the chips and slowly twist your thumb to verify the epoxy below and the chips are not moving.
• Scrape and Clean Floor: Using a flat blade scraper, at a low angle, glide the scraper across the surface removing all vertically bonded flakes and all other residual unbonded vinyl flakes. If you prefer not to use a flat blade, you can also use a rectangular orbital floor sander. We suggest using a rectangular orbital floor sander only if you have experience using this type of equipment. After scraping the floor sweep and vacuum the floor to ensure only bonded vinyl flakes remain before applying the topcoat.
• Top-Coat: Apply your topcoat in accordance with the top-coat application instructions.
